A teenage girl, student of a local government school, was abducted after being lured into marriage four days back. The girl had gone to school as per her routine. On the complaint of the girl’s father, the city police booked Anmol, a resident of Gali Tehla Ram Wali in Guru Ka Khoo mohalla.

The father of the girl, in his complaint to the police, said that he dropped his daughter at school on July 5 but she has not come back home till date. He alleged that the accused Anmol had abducted her on the pretext of marriage. ASI Rachhpal Singh of the city police said that a case under Section 137(2) and 87 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) has been registered. The family expressed its anguish over the failure of the police to invoke provisions of the POCSO Act in the case.
