CPM leader Jaswinder Singh Manochahal and Heera Singh Kandianwala said here on Friday that the spot caved in more than two months ago and residents have since been appealing to officials of the local municipal council to get it filled as it is along the busy road where a large number of commuters pass from early morning till late evening.

The CPM leaders said the municipal council started the work of refilling it a month ago, but left it midway soon after starting for reasons best known to it. They said residents have been repeatedly visiting the municipal council office to get the pit filled as it may lead to a serious mishap but all their requests have gone unheard.

Kamaljit Singh, Executive Officer (EO), MC, did not answer the mobile phone calls and messages. The CPM leaders have brought the matter to the notice of the higher authorities.
