Unidentified men fire shots at Dalit leader’s house

Old enmity suspected, police examining CCTV footage for clues

Amritsar, August 20

Two unidentified persons fired a gunshot at the residence of Dalit leader Pardeep Gabbar in Rajinder Nagar last night. The accused covered their faces with clothes and came on a bike at around 11.30 pm.

The incident has been recorded in CCTV cameras in which they are seen firing with a country-made pistol. After firing one shot, the pistol developed a malfunction and they left the spot on a bike.

Pardeep Gabbar claimed that he had some old enmities and often received threatening calls. “Their pistol developed some problem. Otherwise, they might have done something horrifying. The police should arrest them and take strict action,” said Pardeep Gabbar.

On being informed, police reached the spot and collected the CCTV footage. A case has been registered in this regard.
