Amritsar: The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) on Friday held a meeting with teachers of various schools and colleges in the Majha and Doaba regions and directed them to complete the syllabus using e-learning platforms. The teachers were told to get in touch with students digitally and apprise them of the Sikh history, ‘rehat maryada’ and culture. The SGPC had initiated a special online ‘Dharam parchar’ course and deputed 276 preachers to take classes on Gurbani, Sikh history and ‘rehat maryada’. The classes are being provided free of cost. Manjit Singh Batth, secretary, Dharam Parchar, said as physical classes could not be conducted in view of the restrictions in place, so schools and colleges had been instructed to impart religious studies on video-conferencing platforms.
