Use of robots in manufacturing demonstrated at CII seminar

Naresh Kantoor, MD of Encon Systems and Chairman of CII Smart Manufacturing Council, introduced a novel concept of collaborative automation to digitalise and use robots in manufacturing.

Addressing local industrialists during Industry 4.0 Smart Manufacturing Awareness Seminar, which was organised by the council and the Department of Heavy Industries (DHI) here on Friday, Kantoor said a shift in the manufacturing would bolster the output and curtail wasteful expenditure. Managing director of Sam Automation Ltd HS Saggu demonstrated working of the robotic machinery. Rohan Sangani, strategic growth manager at EntribAnalytics, elaborated usage of digitalisation and its successful practical implementation. Dr Jugraj Singh, Head of Department of Mechanical Engineering of Khalsa College of Engineering and Technology (KCET) theoretically elaborated the concept of Industry 4.0. Prabhdeep Singh, assistant professor of the Computer Science Engineering Department of the KCET, said it was directly linked to Industry 4.0 for its successful implementation.

The session was primarily focussed at concepts of Industry 4.0. Well-versed experts updated members with the detailed insight touching all the aspects, including basics, digitalisation, collaborative automation and their successful implementation.

Earlier, Deputy Commissioner Shivdular Singh Dhillon inaugurated the seminar by lighting a lamp. He said there was a high need of the seminar to upgrade the manufacturing methods and reduce waste.

He also observed that existing methods of manufacturing being used by industrialists were the main reasons behind high cost and less output.

Kanav Aggarwal, Chairman of the CII Amritsar Zonal Council, in his opening remarks, stated that the awareness seminar was very much required as the industrialists needed to be apprised of new trends to match pace with the global trends.

Naavnitt Miterr, Vice-Chairman of the CII Amritsar Zonal Council and Avneet Singh, Zonal Head, CII Amritsar, along with prominent industrialists from the city took part in the seminar.
