Inspector Amanjot Kaur, SHO, Verka police station, who bravely fought with a group of hooligans leaving her seriously injured outside a tavern near Mudhal village on August 2, is among four cops who would be honoured during the district-level Independence Day function at Guru Nanak Stadium here tomorrow. ASI Amarbir Singh, who was accompanying her, was also injured in the attack. Others who would be honoured included ASI Ashwani Kumar, in-charge, Kot Khalsa police chowki, SI Balwinder Singh, in-charge, Anngarh police chowki, constable Kartar Singh and senior constable Sandeep Kaur, both posted at the CIA staff here.
The police said ASI Ashwani Kumar played a vital role in the seizure of around 10kg of heroin, 1kg of ICE and 15 weapons.
SI Balwinder Singh also recovered 4kg of heroin, besides Rs 3 lakh drug money in the Annagarh area infamous for rampant drug abuse. Likewise, constable Kartar Singh played a vital role in the seizure of contraband and drug money in the Gate Hakima and Chheharta police station areas while senior constable Sandeep Kaur did good work to check activities of unscrupulous elements. — TNS
