Vigilance Bureau arrests Patwari for accepting Rs 10,000 bribe
The Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) arrested Ravi Prakash, a Patwari posted at the revenue circle Kot Khalsa in Amritsar city, on Friday.
Prakash was accused of demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000.
A state VB spokesperson disclosed that the arrest followed a complaint filed by Paramjit Singh, a resident of New Mohani Park locality.
Singh alleged that Prakash demanded a bribe of Rs 20,000 to correct an error in his loan amount.
The revenue records incorrectly listed his loan as Rs 90 lakh instead of the actual amount of Rs 9 lakh.
The VB spokesperson stated that after a preliminary investigation, a team from the Amritsar range laid a trap.
During the trap, Prakash was caught red-handed accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000 from the complainant in the presence of two official witnesses.
A case under the Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered against Prakash at the VB police station, Amritsar range. The accused will be produced in the competent court on Saturday.
