Amritsar, July 17
In the 79th Annual General Meeting 2022-23 (AGM) of the Income Tax Practitioners’ Association (ITPA), Amritsar, advocate Vinod Mahajan was elected its new president here on Saturday.
The AGM was presided over by CA Pankaj Khaneja. The association has around 400 members, including chartered accountants, advocates and the income tax business fraternity. Vinod Mahajan said they would work to streamline various due dates of income tax and GST.
“The due date for filing non-audited income tax returns is July 31, while the government has not updated the relevant records for filing income tax returns by June 10. Also, the form for filing the partnership return was issued only at the end of June. We will ask the government to give adequate time to taxpayers so that proper tax returns can be filed and there is no disorderly assessment of returns,” he said.
Gaurav Aggarwal, general secretary of the Income Tax Association, Amritsar, said its main objective was to organise seminars on direct tax matters, represent the Government of India for the required changes in direct tax and build a harmonious relationship between members of the association and the Income Tax Department.
