The Science Club (SciRox) of Guru Nanak Dev University organised its first virtual conference on Astrophysics and Cosmology (AstroRetreat’20).
The conference was co-organised by the Stellar Universe, a student club of Delhi University. It provided an opportunity to students and young physicists to understand the challenging problems of the contemporary times in the fields of Astrophysics and Cosmology.
Renowned Physicists working in the field of Astrophysics, Prof (Dr) Avinash Deshpande (IUCAA & IIT Kanpur) and Prof Dr Jasjeet Bagla (IISER Mohali) presented their lectures on the theme.
A total of 13 oral audio-visual presentations and 26 posters at undergraduate and PhD level were presented during the conference which was inaugurated by Dr Sarbjot Singh Behl, Dean Academic Affairs and Dr Hardeep Singh, Dean Students Welfare.
The event was organised by students Saurabh, Ishita, Rishab, Simranpreet, Shankar, Priyamvada, Abhijeet, Preeti, and Yatin under the supervision of Dr Bindiya Arora, Dept of Physics with support of Venus Singh Mithu, Dept of Chemistry.
“We received a total of 365 national as well as international registrations. This one-day event was held completely online using Zoom platform, and was live streamed on YouTube so that participants from anywhere with internet access could participate,” said Dr Bindiya Arora, Convener and Mentor, SciRox.
