Walkathon organised to promote healthy bones

Students took part in a walkathon organised to spread the message of healthy bones and joints of the body during the 14th Punjab International Trade Expo here on Saturday. The event was jointly organised by the Amritsar PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry with Amandeep Group of Hospitals.
Students of Amandeep College of Nursing and Guru Harkrishan Public School and representatives of various organisations of the city gathered this morning in the Company Bagh to participate in the walkathon.
While flagging off the walkathon, Deputy Commissioner Shivdular Singh Dhillon said, “The effort of the Chamber is commendable. Such events should be held regularly.”
Amandeep Kaur, CEO of Amandeep Group of Hospitals and chief orthopaedic and joint replacement surgeon Avtar Singh, while giving a health message, said that due to changing lifestyle and eating habits, bones of the body are getting weaker. The problem is now becoming common. In such a situation, regular walks can prevent such problems.
The walkathon organised with the aim of spreading awareness to strengthen the bones and joints of the city residents, started from the Company Bagh in the city and culminated in the Pitex Ground at Ranjit Avenue.
Jaideep Singh, convener, Amritsar PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry at the Pitex Ground, thanked all the students and hospital managers, and said that similar events would be organised in the future as well.
