Waris Punjab De activists demand cop’s suspension for ‘misbehaviour’ with kin of Amritpal’s associates
Activists of the Akali Dal (Waris Punjab De) demanded the immediate suspension of Superintendent of Police (SP) Harpal Singh for allegedly misbehaving with the families of the detained youth associated with Khadoor Sahib MP Amritpal Singh during their recent court appearance.
Tarsem Singh, father of Member of Parliament Amritpal Singh, levelled serious allegations against the SP, calling him a “black spot” on both the police department and Sikh values.
According to Tarsem Singh, during the court appearance of Amritpal Singh’s associates in Amritsar, families that came to meet the detained individuals, including Amritpal’s mother Balwinder Kaur, were allegedly mistreated. SP Harpal Singh, present with police force for court security, reportedly reacted angrily when family members expressed their desire to meet the detainees.
He allegedly used derogatory language and mistreated Balwinder Kaur.
The Akali Dal (Waris Punjab De) strongly condemned the incident, asserting that such behaviour towards the mother of a sitting MP, elected with the highest vote margin in Punjab and towards Sikh women was both unacceptable and unconstitutional. They demanded the immediate suspension of SP Harpal Singh and departmental action, including his transfer.
Tarsem Singh also refuted recent claims spread through police sources alleging that Amritpal Singh was involved in substance abuse. He termed the allegations as baseless and defamatory, stating that these tactics were an attempt to malign his image.
