Since the last two weeks, an underpass constructed by the Northern Railways near Kakka Kandiala village has been under knee-deep water. Residents of villages near the underpass are facing problems in commuting due to waterlogging in the underpass.

Whenever a commuter slips on the waterlogged underpass, he/she is robbed by miscreants taking advantage of the situation, especially at night. Gurvinder Singh, Baljit Kaur, Tarsem Singh, Jaswinder Singh and other residents of Kakka Kandiala village said the underpass remained filled with rainwater during the monsoon season.

Residents said they had brought the problem to the notice of the administration and the Railways, but nothing had been done to resolve it. When contacted, Ravi Kumar, Junior Engineer (JE), Railways, said there should be no waterlogging in underpasses. The JE said he would visit the spot and rectify the fault in drain.
