Navjot Kaur Hundal, wife of Dr Kashmir Singh, AAP MLA from Tarn Taran who passed away recently, has declared that she will remain active in politics and in the field of social service to preserve the rich legacy of her late husband. Dr Sohal had passed away on June 27. After the bhog performed for the peace of the departed soul on July 6, Navjot Kaur Hundal, in her maiden interaction with media persons at her residence here on Monday, said that her husband besides his service in the Health Department, was socially active for more than three decades under the aegis of Vikas Manch, Punjab. He was instrumental in organising eye camps, health awareness camps and also served the needy. However, on the question of contesting the Assembly by-election from Tarn Taran, which fell vacant after the death of her husband, she clearly said that she would abide by the decision of the party.
After her retirement from service, she worked hard to strengthen AAP at the state level as he was the state convener of the Intellectual Forum of AAP. She said that after winning the 2022 election, Dr Sohal had worked for the welfare of society and workers in his constituency. She said that she would remain active in the field of social activities as well as in politics to carry on the rich traditions bequeathed by her husband. She added that she had no lust for political power and would serve the people of the area as they still approach her for their works. On the issue of a party ticket for the by-election from Tarn Taran Vidhan Sabha seat to chose the political successor of her husband, she said she would honour the party decision as her husband had worked hard to make AAP popular among the masses in the area.
