With roots in Amritsar, Daksh Sandhu makes waves in US soccer scene

With roots in Amritsar, Daksh Sandhu is scripting history as a soccer player in the state of Washington, officially known as “The Evergreen State” of the USA.

Playing for Sound FC, a premier youth soccer club, Daksh ranked as the highest goal scorer for his team during the 2024–2025 season. He has demonstrated exceptional skills and consistency on the field. His impressive performance led Sound FC to win the Washington Youth Soccer Presidents Cup title. Following their championship victory, the team is now participating in the Regional Championship, to be held in Boise, Idaho, this month.

Daksh’s contribution has been crucial to the team’s success, establishing him as an emerging talent in the youth competitive soccer circuit.

Daksh Sandhu’s grandfather, Puran Singh Sandhu—a resident of Amritsar and retired Inspector of the Punjab Police—said the young football player of Indian origin in the USA has caught everyone’s attention with his brilliant play. The talented boy has not only performed well for his team but has also brought laurels to the Indian community and his country.

This young player has made his mark in major US football leagues. His fast pace, excellent ball control, and goal-scoring ability make him stand out from other players. His dedication and hard work are clearly visible in every match, which is why he is receiving high praise from his coach and teammates, Puran Singh Sandhu added.

Puran Singh Sandhu added that his elder son, Rukwinder Singh Rocky, and daughter-in-law, Monika Sandhu, a software engineer at Microsoft, have worked hard to help their children excel in both academics and sports. Despite migrating abroad, they have not forgotten their Punjabi heritage, he added.
