Woman ends life, husband booked

A woman, who was perturbed over illicit relations of her husband with some other woman, died after taking overdose of medicine of TB disease from which she was suffering at Bhikhiwind on Sunday.

The police said the deceased was identified as Jasbir Kaur (40), a resident of the Chela Basti, Bhikhiwind. Her husband had illicit relations with a woman of the same locality since the past two years. She had been repeatedly advising him to mend his ways, but he refused to listen to her advice.

Deceased’s husband identified as Rattan Singh left home on Sunday. As the woman was suspicious about Rattan’s activities, she called him on his mobile phone. Rattan sent an old video to his wife on her cellphone in which he was seen working at a site. When Jasbir Kaur contacted Rattan on video call she saw a suspected woman with her husband. In a fit of anger she consumed overdose of TB medicine after which her health condition deteriorated. Her son Krishan Singh took her to a private hospital in Bhikhiwind where a doctor declared her brought dead.

ASI Talwinder Singh, posted at the Bhikhiwind police station, said a case under Section 108 of the BNS had been registered against Rattan. He said the accused was on the run. He said the police had initiated further proceedings into the matter.
