The police have booked a woman, Karishma, for allegedly putting some poisonous substance into the mouth of her father-in-law following which his health deteriorated. Besides her, the police have registered a case against Karishma’s mother and brother.

Parkash Singh, a resident of Mehmad Mandrwala, told the police that his son Asmanpreet Singh had been married to Karishma around one and a half years ago. He said two days ago, his daughter-in-law (Karishma) asked Asmanpreet to drop her at her parents’ house at Bholeke village in Batala as she had some work. However, his son said he would be returning to his work within four days and advised her to go to her parents after that.

He said she was adamant on visiting her parents and asked him to drop her at Bholeke village. He said he also seconded his son’s advice which did not gone well with her and she created a scene and started shouting. She called her mother and brother over phone. They arrived home in the evening.

He said his wife Sawinder Kaur had gone to market and he and his son were at home at that time. He said his son went to bring some soft drinks for her in-laws. He alleged Karishma again started abusive language and threatened to kill all the family members by poisoning.
