Kulbir Singh, a resident of the local Focal Point, has lodged a police complaint against the husband and in-laws of her daughter for torturing her physically and mentally for dowry.

Dr Rukhsimran Kaur and her husband Dr Karanpreet Singh, residents of Flat No.4, Kasa Homes, Kharad, Landra Road , Mohali (SAS Nagar), were married on January 27, 2023. Kulbir Singh in his complaint to the city police stated that Karanpreet Singh, a medico, his father Daljit Singh and sister Akashpreet Kaur started torturing her mentally and physically soon after the marriage.

He said the accused tortured Dr Rukhsimran Kaur the whole day on July 21 and threw her out of their house.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Tarsem Masih probed the complaint and on the basis of the findings of the report, a case under Sections 85, 316 (2), 61 (2), (A), 351 (2) of the BNS has been registered against the accused who are absconding, added the DSP.
