The MLA from Amritsar Central assembly constituency, Dr Ajay Gupta, inaugurated development works by installing new tubewells in Ward Nos.55 and 56 to resolve drinking water issues in these areas.

The old tubewell in Jatta Wali Gali had been repaired previously but was still not functioning properly due to a damaged bore, prompting the need for new tubewells. The residents of the area had been complaining of inadequate supply of water after which the plan to set up a new tubewell was initiated by the municipal corporation.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Gupta emphasized that the Aam Aadmi Party government of Punjab prioritizes the needs of common people. To address these needs, camps are being set up under the “Sarkar Aayi Aapke Dwar” project to listen to people’s problems, he said.

He added that the upcoming camps would focus on providing old-age, widow, and disabled pensions, as well as facilitating the creation of ration cards through a soon-to-be-launched portal.

Additionally, Dr Gupta mentioned that camps organized under the Pardhan Mantri Awas yojna scheme have already collected forms for replacing old and broken roofs. The filled forms are being reviewed, and the first installment of funds would be released soon to support the construction of new roofs and repair.

He said that in February, camps would be held in every ward of the Central Assembly constituency to provide needy individuals with Rs 2.5 lakh to build or repair their homes, with the Central Government contributing Rs 1.5 lakh and the Punjab Government contributing Rs 1 lakh.

The event was attended by newly appointed councillors, including Vicky Dutta, Bobby Dudhwala, and Monit Mahajan, along with a large number of local residents.
