Amritsar: A workshop on beauty and wellness was organised by the Cosmetology Department of Shri Guru Tegh Bahadur College for Women. The objective of the workshop was to make girls self-reliant and providing them with employment opportunities. Principal Nanak Singh assembled a team of experts from Technical College Ramtirth. The team threw light on modern techniques related to the industry. Experts said in the present situation, it was also very important to adopt the existing technology to enhance beauty. They said the sector had very good employment opportunities in the present times of joblessness among youths. During this, the Principal said in the current inflation era, it was necessary for girls to get professional education along with studies, using which they could become a big support for their parents by helping them financially too. On the occasion, hands-on training was also imparted to the students by the said team about special tricks of hair styling, setting, curling and colouring.

Seminar on new rules of NAAC

A seminar on new rules of NAAC was conducted at Khalsa College of Education in collaboration with Bombay Teacher Training College. Principal Dr Harpreet Kaur also discussed the memorandum of undertaking between the two colleges under the faculty exchange programme. Dr Harpreet said every five years, the national-level institutes would be inspected by NAAC to review the quality of education in the colleges. However, with the changing times, they have made some changes, which are important for teachers to be aware of. Discussing the commendable steps being taken by Bombay Teacher Training College, information was provided about the new rules of NAAC and also some tips were shared with the teachers to raise the standard of education.

Religious event at school

A religious function was held at Khalsa College International Public School, Ranjit Avenue, to mark martyrdom day of Guru Arjan Dev. On the occasion, the principal told the students that Guru Arjan Dev, the fifth Sikh Guru, was the first Sikh Guru to be martyred. His martyrdom emerged as a boundless force for the community, which led the Panth to a series of martyrdoms unmatched in the history of the world. He gave a message to the students to follow the path shown by the Guru. Chabeel was also organised for students and teachers. tns
