Amritsar: Harpreet Kaur, a PhD scholar, under the supervision of Dr Bindiya Arora, Department of Physics of GNDU, has been awarded ‘Young Scientist Award’ with a citation, medal and cash prize of Rs. 7,500 by 25th Punjab Science Congress held at Sri Guru Teg Bahadur Khalsa College under the aegis of Punjab Academy of Sciences, Patiala, on Future Endeavours of Science and Technology for Sustainable Growth. PAS with a motto of ‘Science for peace and prosperity’ presents this award every year to the young researchers or scientists who are making extensive contribution for the development and promotion of Research in the different scientific fields. The conference took place virtually where researchers all over Punjab and neighbouring states participated.

GNDU to host Science Week Festival

Department of Physics, Guru Nanak Dev University, is going to organise a Science Week Festival from February 22 to 28. The event is supported by the state nodal agency Punjab State Council for Science and Technology and Vigyan Prasar under its flagship programme SCOPE, “Science & Technology Communication, Popularisation & its extension” under the aegis of Ministry of Culture and Office of the PSA, Government of India. The festival will traverse through the past, present and future of Indian Science & Technology. The celebration at Guru Nanak Dev University are being coordinated by Dr Bindiya Arora, Department of Physics .

Talk on Stress Management

Global Group of Institutes arranged an expert talk on by Dr. Varun Pushkarna, Senior Consultant, Internal Medicine and Critical Care at Fortis Escorts Hospital for the benefit of the faculty and staff at its premises. The objective behind holding of this expert talk was to create awareness amongst the faculty and staff regarding the lifestyle changes to be made in our daily life to the avoid a number of diseases that affect many a people even without their knowing about it. Dr Pushkarna discussed in detail the factors leading to various ailments just because of the way we live and behave in all everyday life. He talked of depression, stress, dementia, forgetfulness, frustration, lack of direction as the result of our day to day living habits and also suggested the ways and means to remain disease free and healthy by making changes in our lifestyles.
