Youth killed, friend critical after late-night gangwar firing in Amritsar's Golden Avenue area
In alleged late-night gangwar in the Golden Avenue area under Mohkampura police station limits claimed the life of a young man named Nimish, while his friend sustained critical injuries.
The incident occurred on Wednesday late night when five assailants on two motorcycles opened indiscriminate fire at the duo.
According to police sources, Nimish and his friend were returning home in a Creta car when they were intercepted near Golden Avenue.
The attackers first smashed the car windows before unleashing a hail of bullets at them. Both youths suffered serious gunshot wounds and were rushed to the hospital, where Nimish succumbed to his injuries. His friend continues to battle for life.
Assistant Commissioner of Police, Sheetal Singh confirmed that a case has been registered against unidentified assailants. “We are scanning CCTV footage from the area. Statements from the victim’s family have been recorded, and further investigation is underway,” he said.
