Tarn Taran: A youth shot himself dead in Bhikhiwind on Monday after his parents reportedly did not agree to marry him with his friend. The deceased has been identified as Satnam Singh (22). Ranjit Singh, father of the deceased, told the police that Satnam was under mental stress as they were not ready to marry him with a girl with whom he was having an affair. The Bhikhiwind police have registered a case under Sections 309 of the IPC and Sections 25, 27, 54, 59 of the Arms Act. OC

The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising five eminent persons as trustees.
