Youth shot dead by snatchers in Amritsar’s Wadala Johal village
A 23-year-old man, Anil Kumar, was fatally shot by armed assailants who stole his mobile phone in Wadala Johal village here on Saturday night. Kumar, a native of Pilibhit, UP, succumbed to his injuries on Sunday evening.
According to the police, Kumar operated a harvester combine hired by local farmer Sabi. On Saturday night, Kumar was returning to his room after work when two motorcycle-borne men attempted to snatch his phone. When Kumar resisted, they shot him in the stomach.
Mohan Kumar, Anil’s elder brother, reported receiving news of the incident on Saturday night and arriving in Wadala Johal the next morning. He criticised the police for not making any arrests, saying, “The police should have identified and apprehended the accused by now.”
DSP Ravinder Singh stated that the police are scanning CCTV footages and conducting technical probes to identify the perpetrators. A case has been registered.
