The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, through MY Bharat, is organising Viksit Bharat Padyatras — a nationwide campaign to honour the Iron Man of India. “This campaign aims to instil the values of unity, civic responsibility and patriotism among the youth, in line with the Prime Minister’s vision of Jan Bhagidari in Rashtranirman,” said Jasleen Kour.

The initiative was digitally launched on October 6 by Union Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports, Dr Mansukh Mandaviya, via the MY Bharat platform.

As part of the campaign, the Sardar@150 Unity March is being conducted in two phases across the country. District-level padyatras are being held from October 31 to November 25, covering every district within each parliamentary constituency. The national-level march will take place from November 26 to December 6 — a 152-km journey from Karamsad to the Statue of Unity, Kevadia in Gujarat.

In Amritsar, the district-level padyatra will begin on November 11. “The march will start from Company Bagh and pass through Forest Chowk, Novelty Chowk, Custom Chowk and Kitchlu (Court) Chowk, symbolising unity, harmony and people’s participation,” said Kour. The event will see participation from NSS volunteers, youth organisations, educational institutions and community representatives.

The march aims to promote the ideals of Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat and Atmanirbhar Bharat, while paying tribute to the legacy of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, who played a pivotal role in uniting India.
