Akhand Path held at Golden Temple to honour legendary tabla maestro Zakir Hussain

An Akhand path was held in memory of legendary tabla maestro Ustad Zakir Hussain at Amritsar's Golden temple on Thursday morning.

The ceremony was organised by the late tabla maestro's younger brother, Fazal Qureshi, who expressed deep gratitude for the opportunity to honour his brother at such a sacred site.

Expressing his gratitude for the opportunity and sharing his late brother's strong belief for Golden Temple, Fazal, said, "It was extremely emotional and humbling feeling to receive the Hukumnama. The ceremony was beautiful conducted. Since we belong to Punjab Gharana and my father Ustad Allah Rakha was rooted here, we all follow it till today."

He was accompanied by two disciples, Ustad Kulwinder Singh, a disciple of Ustad Allah Rakha and Ustad Zakir Hussain and Ustad Gurpreet Singh, a disciple of Ustad Fazal Qureshi.

Hazoori Raagi of Golden temple Bhai Gurdev Singh performed the kirtan and ardas at the Baba Gurbaksh Singh gurudwara.
