In a significant move aimed at strengthening the city’s infrastructure, the Amritsar Municipal Corporation has appointed nodal officers for the upkeep and monitoring of 23 major roads across the city.

MC Commissioner Gulpreet Singh Aulakh has appointed these nodal officers for the overall maintenance of major roads. These officers will conduct daily inspection of the roads and post reports of any shortcomings found in the WhatsApp group of the heads of departments (HoDs). For essential tasks, SDO Anudeepak Singh has been tasked to assist nodal officer Superintending Engineer Sandeep Singh. The nodal officers will oversee patchwork on roads, repair of footpaths and central verges, horticulture-related work, sewerage, manholes, chambers, drinking water systems, street lighting, cleanliness, and removal of garbage piles from vacant plots.

The MC Commissioner has directed all the nodal officers to regularly inspect and ensure the quality of work being carried out. He also emphasised that apart from overseeing the repair and construction work, these officers must ensure cleanliness on their assigned roads and address any emerging civic issues promptly. This effort is part of a broader initiative to improve traffic flow, road safety, and urban aesthetics across the city.
