Narcotics supply gang busted in Kaithal, four arrested

Kaithal Police have busted a narcotics supply network and arrested four members of a gang for allegedly supplying intoxicant tablets. It has seized 23,600 intoxicant tablets from their possession, along with Rs 15,000 in drug money. All four accused have been produced in court and sent to judicial custody.

Giving details of the operation, a police spokesperson said that on August 21, the Anti-Narcotic Cell arrested Vikram, a resident of Nanakpuri Colony, Kaithal, with 23,600 intoxicant pills. He was produced in the court and remanded to two days of police custody for further interrogation.

After an intensive investigation, the Kaithal police arrested the suppliers linked to him.

During interrogation led by SI Balraj Singh under the supervision of Anti-Narcotic Cell in-charge SI Rajbir Singh, Vikram revealed that he had procured the pills from two individuals – Jasmer of Arjun Nagar, Kaithal, and Sahil of Khurana Road.

Sahil had already been arrested by CIA-1 police in another case with intoxicant tablets, he said.

Further investigation revealed that Jasmer had sourced the drugs from Gopal Kishan of Jind district, who, in turn, had bought them from Pragat Singh of Dashmesh Colony.

Acting swiftly on this information, the police nabbed Jasmer, Gopal Kishan and Pragat Singh, and recovered Rs 5,500, Rs 4,500 and Rs 5,000 respectively as drug money from their possession, the spokesperson maintained.

SP Kaithal Astha Modi said the police are determined to trace the roots of the drug mafia and warned of strict against those involved in the illegal trade. She also appealed the public to inform any drug-related activity to the police, assuring that the identity of informers will be kept confidential.
