The World Wide Fund for nature (WWF- India) will conduct a ‘Wild Wisdom Quiz’ in various schools to sensitise children about wildlife. The quiz will culminate with the national finale, to be held in October, which will coincide with the wildlife week celebrations.
Dr AK Singh, senior WWF official in Uttarakhand, said the quiz aimed at providing students a unique opportunity to delve deep into the wildlife of the country, build their interest towards the rich natural legacy and inspire them to work towards its conservation.
Keeping in tune with the United Nation’s declaration of 2015 as the ‘International Year of the Soil’, this year’s quiz will highlight the importance of conserving soil. The quiz will test children’s aptitude and knowledge on soil, minerals, evolution, climate change and sustainability, apart from issues of the Indian wildlife and global biodiversity.
Dr Singh said the city-level final will be held in Dehradun on September 2 at Rashtriya Indian Military College, whereas the national final will be held on October 7 in New Delhi.
“Winners of the Wild Wisdom Quiz-2015 will be taken on an adventure trip to a national park. The camp experience will provide students an opportunity to live amidst nature and witness it in full glory. The students will also take part in multiple adventure sports during the trip”, he added.
