Swati Nokhwal (21) of Vastu Nagar in Sriganganagar has made it to the Indian Administrative Services (IAS) in her maiden attempt. She got 766th rank.

Daughter of Inderaj Nokhwal, Chief Ticket Examiner in Railways, and Shakuntala, a schoolteacher, Swati was accorded a warm welcome as she reached her hometown from Delhi by train this morning.

“I am happy to realise my father’s dream that always inspired me to compete for the civil services,” Swati said. She had passed Class XII with 89 per cent marks and got 78 per cent in graduation.

She had been preparing for civil services exam at Delhi and devoted 8 to 10 hours to studies every day.
