As many as 800 landline telephones of the Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) have been lying dead for the past 10 days. The cables of these phones, which are 10-feet underground, were damaged by sewerage water.

Sub divisional officer (phones) Baldev Singh said employees of the BSNL were making all efforts to repair the damaged cables. It would take a few more days to complete the repair work, he added. Meanwhile, the BSNL subscribers are facing harassment as they are not able to make phone calls and access Internet.
