Abrogation a right step: Pandit body

Jammu, August 13

The Global Kashmiri Pandit Diaspora (GKPD), a group of NRIs, has said that the abrogation of Article 370 was a tribute to “nationalist forces” and a right step towards integration of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh with the mainstream India.

A statement signed by more than a 100 professionals working in Europe, America, Australia and other countries has condemned the attempts to “selectively highlight” a few individuals who are opposing the abrogation of Article 370.

In statement, the GKPD claimed, “A vast majority of the people of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh are in favour of its (Article 370) scrapping. We unequivocally reject the petition submitted by 64 citizens condemning the abrogation of Article 370”. Individual opinions of a group of people cannot be considered the voice of the people of the erstwhile state. — TNS
