Aguero scores two in City’s 3-1 win

Sergio Aguero struck twice as Manchester City moved into second place in the Premier League, two points behind leaders Liverpool, with a 3-1 win at Bournemouth on Sunday.

Aguero, who has scored in all three games this season, gave City a 15th-minute lead.

Moments later Raheem Sterling doubled City’s lead. 

But Bournemouth got back into the game in magnificent fashion, just before the interval, thanks to an unstoppable curling free-kick from substitute Harry Wilson, on loan from Liverpool. Aguero then poked home his second goal in the 63rd minute.

Liverpool beat Arsenal 3-1 on Saturday. Tottenham Hotspur fell to a surprise 1-0 defeat at home to Newcastle United. Brazilian Joelinton, Newcastle’s record £40 million signing, finished off a 27th minute counter-attack.

Real held by Valladolid

Madrid: Real Madrid’s early optimism was punctured by an 88th-minute equaliser from Real Valladolid’s Sergio Guardiola Navarro as Zinedine Zidane’s side drew 1-1 in their first home game of the La Liga season. Karim Benzema scored in the 82nd minute with Valladolid’s Guardiola striking through  the legs of Thibaut Courtois later on.

Atletico Madrid made it two wins out of two as Vitolo scored in the second half to secure a hard-fought 1-0 victory at Leganes today.

Juve win

Milan: Juventus captain Giorgio Chiellini scored the first goal of the Serie A season as the champions kicked off their bid for a ninth consecutive title with a pedestrian 1-0 win at Parma. — Agencies
