The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) on Monday revised the date of its proposed rally at Saharanpur (Uttar Pradesh) in view of the September 19 zila parishad and panchayat samiti elections in Punjab.
The public meeting will now be held on September 21 instead of September 18. The decision was taken at SAD president and former Deputy CM Sukhbir Singh Badal’s meeting with party leaders from UP here. Sukhbir and SGPC president Gobind Singh Longowal are among the leaders who will address the rally.
Uttar Pradesh Akali Dal president Gurpreet Singh Bagga told The Tribune that the party planned to hold public meetings at other places too, including Kanpur and Aligarh.
