All in the name
Shalini Arora, who has been part of shows like Pavitra Rishta, Bhagyalakshmi and Balika Vadhu, is currently being seen in Colors’ Ek Shringaar-Swabhimaan. The pretty actress is quite elated as she talks about it and more.
What is your role in this latest show?
I am playing the role of Asha, the maternal aunt of the lead girls being played by Ankita Sharma and Sangeeta Chauhan. Although Asha is positive and loving, she wants her husband to save the hard-earned money for the future of their children, rather wasting it on his niece Meghna and Naina’s marriage.
Is your character inspired by Seema Biswas’s role, Rama, from Vivah?
I don’t think so because Rama never liked Poonam (Amrita Rao’s character in Vivah), whereas Asha loves Meghna and Naina. There is only one similarity that both Rama and Asha are a bit possessive when it comes to their own children.
Are you in love with your onscreen name?
I was quite excited when they approached me for Swabhimaan. My happiness quadrupled when I came to know that my onscreen name is Asha, which is coincidentally my mother’s name. I always admire and look up to her, more than anyone else in this world. That’s the reason this show is a bit special for me.
Why did you quit the show Woh Apna Sa?
As I was also doing Swabhimaan at the same time, it was getting difficult to manage shooting for both daily soaps. So, I decided to quit Woh Apna Sa.
How has your experience of working with Rajshri Productions been?
It’s a privilege to be associated with Rajshri Productions. It’s one of the best production houses I have worked with. They value relationships and principles in real life, which they portray in their films and shows. It really feels fantastic to work with them!
