An Amritsar-based couple, identified as Rajiv Sodhi and Kirti Sodhi, died as the car they were travelling in rammed into a stranded truck near Ajit dhaba in Kartarpur this morning.

The incident took place when the victims were on the way back home from New Delhi.

The impact of the accident was so much that their Wagon R car got mangled badly. Their son Himanshu Sodhi reportedly survived the accident. He has been admitted to a hospital.

A cloth merchant, Rajiv owned a showroom at Putlighar in Amritsar. He was also a BJP worker.

Truck drivers often park their vehicles in front of dhabas on the Jalandhar-Amritsar stretch instead of using the service lane for the same, leading to accidents.
