AMRITSAR: NCC cadets of Guru Nanak Dev University (GNDU), enrolled under 1 Punjab Battalion, observed the Swachhta Pakhwara on the university campus here on Wednesday. Being celebrated pan India from July 15 to 30, the objective of the drive is to create  awareness about cleanliness. Cadets cleaned the campus besides delivering awareness speeches. The activities were supervised by NCC officer Anil Kumar along with officials from 1 Punjab Battalion. TNS

Decomposed foetus found

Tarn Taran: A patrolling party of the BSF found a decomposed foetus from Kasur drain near Kalas village on Tuesday evening. ASI Balwinder Singh, investigating officer, said a case under Section 318 of the IPC was registered against unidentified persons. He said the body had been sent for postmortem examination. OC

More buses for devotees

Amritsar: SGPC president Gobind Singh Longowal on Wednesday flagged off four buses to facilitate the visit of devotees to the Golden Temple. The SGPC had earlier announced to start five buses out of which one is already ferrying devotees from Sri Guru Ram Das Ji Intenrational airport to the shrine. Longowal said, “Out of four buses that started today, two will ferry devotees from Takht Sri Damdama Sahib, Talwandi Sabo, and the remaining two from Sri Anandpur Sahib.” TNS
