12 booked in firing incident

As many as 12 persons have been booked in a firing incident that took place at Sarhali village, 22 km from here, five days ago.

Inspector Kanwalpreet Singh said the accused had been identified as as Sandeep Singh, Jarmanjit Singh, Uday Singh and Sukhraj Singh, all residents of Thatha village. He said others accused were yet to be identified.

A case under Sections 336, 452, 427, 506, 148 and 149 of the IPC has been registered against the accused on the statement of Paramjit Kaur, a resident Sarhali village. She told the police that the accused armed with weapons barged into her house and ransacked the material lying inside. She said the accused also fired gunshots. She said the accused had been threatening her to reach a compromise in an old murder case.— OC
