The Border Security Force (BSF) personnel have recovered four packets (approximately 2 kg) of contraband, suspected to be heroin, near the border outpost Rajatal in Amritsar sector.
Based on intelligence inputs, a special joint search operation was carried out by BSF troops and a police team from the Gharinda police station in Amritsar district, ahead of the BSF fence in the area falling under the Rajatal border outpost EX-50 BN.
FM Farooqi, DIG, BSF, said the search operation was conducted at around 11 am today and four packets suspected to be of heroin were found buried under a tree in the paddy fields
Keeping in view the vulnerability of the border due to the tall paddy crops that block visibility, Anil Paliwal, Inspector General, BSF Punjab Frontier, has issued operational guidelines to the sectors under the Punjab Frontier to strengthen border domination to effectively check the smuggling of narcotics and the activities of anti-national elements on the border with Pakistan in Punjab.
With today’s seizure, a total of 196.582 kg of contraband has been recovered by the BSF till date.
