2 killed, five hurt in road mishaps

Two persons, including a woman, were killed while one youth was injured in a road mishap that occurred in Majitha here today.
The deceased were identified as Ranjit Kaur (45) and Malkeet Singh (22) while the injured include Talwinder Singh (21). He was rushed to a hospital.
The incident occurred when a bus (PB-02-9857) hit a motorcycle (PN-02-CD-8372) they were travelling on. The driver of the bus fled the scene. It was going from Sham Nagar to Majitha while the motorcycle was going from Majitha to Hariya village. The police have registered a case in this connection and efforts are on to arrest the driver, identified as Gurjit Singh of Veeram village.
Meanwhile, in another incident, an auto-rickshaw carrying schoolchildren collided with a school bus. Four girls were reportedly injured in the incident that occurred on Airport Road here today. The auto-rickshaw was badly damaged in the incident while two girls got their legs fractured. The police have started investigations in the case.
