2 minor sisters raped by father, son; accused held

In a shocking incident, two minor sisters were allegedly raped by their father and brother in Dramman wala bazaar here. The accused were arrested by the police while the mother of the girls has also been arrested in the case.

Those arrested were identified as Ashok Kumar, his wife Rajwinder Kaur, and their son Jatinder Singh.

The incident came to light when the victims approached the Sultanwind police after escaping the clutches of the accused.

Following the statement of one of the girls, the police have registered a case under Section 376 and 506 of the IPC and Sections 6, 17 and 21 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act 2012.

The 17-year-old victim told the police that her father Ashok Kumar was sexually assaulting her for past several months and when her brother came to know about this, he started sexually abusing her 14-year-old sister. She alleged their mother Rajwinder Kaur also used to beat them whenever they tried to oppose them.

When the incident came into the knowledge of senior police officials, they immediately ordered a raid at their residence and arrested the culprits. The victims have a nine-year-old sister also.

Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police Lakhbir Singh said the accused parents, Ashok Kumar and Rajwinder Kaur, had been sent to judicial remand while Jatinder Singh, who was a minor was shifted to juvenile court, Faridkot. Both the victims had been sent to Nari Niketan at Jalandhar, while the custody of the nine-year-old girl was handed over to her paternal uncle.
