Seminar on architecture inaugurated at GNDU

A national seminar on “Regional architecture” was inaugurated at Sri Guru Granth Sahib Bhawan of Guru Nanak Dev University (GNDU) here today.
The Department of Architecture is organizing the seminar, which is being sponsored by the UGC, New Delhi. Vice-Chancellor, Prof Ajaib Singh Brar, presided over the inaugural session. Prof Anne Feenstra, dean, architecture, CEPT, Ahmedabad, delivered the keynote address. Prof Prabhjot Kaur, director, PTU campus, was guest of honour on the occasion.
As many as 23 speakers from all over the country will present their views on regional architecture at the seminar.
Prof Anne Feenstra shared his experience in the field of architecture with the audience. In his address, Prof Brar appreciated the department’s move to educate the students through such seminars.
He insisted that the faculty of the Architecture Department should design eco-friendly buildings with maximum use of natural light so as to cut electricity bills.
The first session started under the chairmanship of Prof Anne with Prof Dua as co- chairperson. The basic context of the session revolved around regional architecture presented by architects, including Ranbir Kaur, Pankaj Chhabra, BS Sekhon, Rachanpuneet and Amy.
