Have looks, got talent? Then sky is the limit! That’s what the 60 beautiful women at Holiday Inn had on their minds while walking in for the auditions of Mrs Punjab 2016. The winner of the event will get a direct entry into Mrs India 2016 contest and it will open doors of endless possibilities for her.
The Amritsar leg of auditions was to judge the participants on the basis of their looks, talent and personality. Out the 60 candidates, 30 made the cut. “We were overwhelmed by the response since it was an open, walk-in audition. We had kept the final list to 10, but going by the number of women who came for the auditions, we selected 30. These candidates will now compete in the semi-final round in Ludhiana,” said Parminder Singh, one of the organisers of the event.
The participants, however, seemed confident about the changing concepts of being a married woman and a mother. “Earlier, marriage was considered a binding thing for a women, who was kept confined to indoors, her only duties were cooking and taking care of the children. But today, concept of marriage itself has changed. Women do not consider it as an end to their personal ambitions. Instead, one can balance out the family and personal course of career with ease,” said Neetu Kapoor, a homemaker from Ranjit Avenue. Many other agreed with the school of thought. “Being married is a lifestyle choice today and many women have got the support of their families and husbands to pursue their dreams after getting hitched,” said Ruby Minhas, another participant. The semi-finals will be held on August 14 in Ludhiana and the grand finale on August 21.
