322 students get placement

Amritsar: As many as 322 students of the Institute of Finance Banking and Insurance (IFBI), Amritsar, got placement in the ICICI Bank. The students were screened at the first step and given appointment letters by the bank before they paid their training fee. According to Reema Kalhan, DGM,IFBI, Amritsar, students from varied backgrounds like commerce, humanities and BTech engineers successfully completed the postgraduate diploma in banking sector and joined private banks. Some of them were promoted as system managers within 18 months. She said, “Students are trained by experienced bankers, who retired as assistant general managers and senior managers. The banking sector is poised to expand in the coming year and branches will come up in the rural areas too.”

Inter-Khalsa College Diwali tournament

Seven-day-long Inter-Khalsa College Institutions Diwali Tournament was held at Khalsa College in which all colleges under Khalsa College Charitable Society (KCCS) competed for the trophy. More than 500 students from these institutions took part in the various events including cricket, athletics, basketball volleyball, badminton and tug-of-war. Girl students too participated in the sports events. During the prize distribution function, KCGC honorary secretary Rajinder Mohan Singh Chhina said there was a proposal to organise in-house sports tournament as the institutions had been growing. He appreciated the contribution of Khalsa College Amritsar Principal, Dr Mehal Singh, who made elaborate arrangements to hold sports competitions. He said Khalsa institutions had been at the forefront to provide best talent to the national pool in various sports and such events helped students polish their sportsmanship skills.

Sahodaya award ceremony

Shri Ram Ashram Public School organised “Gem of Sahodaya Award” under the aegis of Sahodaya School Complex in order to facilitate meritorious students from various schools recently. As many as 80 students were honoured in the programme. Dr Kunwar Vijay Pratap Singh, DIG Border Range, presided over the function. The programme was followed by cultural dances, including Kathak and Krishan Bal Leela. Appreciating the conducive learning environment and excellent infrastructure of the school, various speakers’ motivated students to continue with their hard work through which they could achieve what they wanted in their lives. While addressing the gathering, manager and educational adviser of the school, SN Joshi, said their vision was to create a society of progressive thinking individuals, who would contribute to the intellectual development of the global community, by initiating positive changes in the social fabric. School Principal Vinodita Sankhyan said, “It is our endeavour to promote and encourage young students, who are really enthusiastic to put in their best efforts to showcase their work.” The function ended with the singing of the National Anthem. School education committee president Balbir Bajaj, Sahodaya School Complex president, Dr Dharamvir Singh, and DAV Public School Principal, Dr Neera Sharma, were also present among others during the function.

Annual function at KCPS

Guru Nanak Dev University vice-chancellor, Dr AS Brar, said, “Education is a great leveller and its primary focus should be to polish the personality of a child. We are living in a world of competitiveness where mediocrity has no value and only the excellent achieve heights.” He was speaking at annual function of Khalsa College Public School (KCPS) here recently. Dr Brar called upon society at large to focus on the imparting of value-based education to develop patriotic and service-oriented minds. DIG, Counter Intelligence, Kunwar Vijay Partap Singh, Khalsa College Governing Council honorary secretary Rajinder Mohan Singh Chhina, Principal, Dr Sarvjit Kaur Brar, addressed students on the occasion. The annual function was marked with the colourful cultural programmes dedicated to “Incredible India” in which the dances of almost all the states were presented. Apart from the fusion music, giddha, bhangra, Sufi singing and recital of Jugni was appreciated by the gathering of students and their parents. School’s magazine “Sirjan” was also released on the occasion. — TNS
