7 booked for duping farmer of Rs 30 lakh

The Ajnala police have booked seven persons, including a woman, for allegedly duping a farmer of Rs 30 lakh. Identified as Jaswinder Singh of Moga, his wife, Raj Kumar of Guloke village, Subash Chandar of Panje K Uttar, Mehar Singh Bhullar of Sahwala village, Gurnam Singh of Bajeke and Gurbachan Singh Bhullar of Dineke, (all villages in Ferozepur district), the accused had taken the money from the victim with a promise to double it.

In his complaint, victim Samsher Singh of Baba Deep Singh Avenue Ajanala stated that the accused were swindlers and had been active in the area. “I had sold my agriculture land in 2011 and the accused got to know about it through their sources. Jaswinder Singh met me and told that he along with others had a real estate business. He promised to double the money in two years. I gave them Rs 30 lakh but they never returned it,” he said.

The police conducted an inquiry and registered a case against the accused.

Police officials said no arrest has been made so far and further investigation into the case was on.
