Amrik absolved of tranquillity charge

The Ajnala court today relieved Bhai Amrik Singh Ajnala in the case filed against him under Sections 107/151 of the CrPC (apprehension of breach of peace and tranquillity) during the hearing today.

However, the sedition charges would stand against him.

Amrik Singh was appointed jathedar of Takht Sri Kesgarh Sahib during the controversial congregation held at Chabba village in Amritsar.

He was produced before the court of Ajnala SDM Hardeep Singh Dhaliwal. The Ajnala SDM said the case filed under Section 107/151 of the CrPC against him stands dismissed due to lack of evidence.

On the other hand, Amrik Singh contended that until and unless sedition charges imposed against him and 20 others get abolished, they would not be entitled to apply for bail. — TNS
