Amritsar-Patna flight begins

MP Gurjit Singh Aujla said with initiation of a direct flight between Amritsar and Patna Sahib, a long-standing demand of Sikh pilgrims has been fulfilled.

Aujla travelled from Amritsar to Patna Sahib on the first flight and paid obeisance at Gurdwara Patna Sahib. He said he had been raising his voice in Lok Sabha and with the government regarding the flight and he is happy that it has been started.

The flight started by Air India took off from Sri Guru Ram Das Jee International Airport here on Monday. The others who boarded the flight included Khadoor Sahib Lok Sabha member Jasbir Singh Dimpa, Jathedar Patna Sahib Giani Ranjit Singh Gohar, head priest Darbar Sahib Giani Jagtar Singh, Bhoori Wale Karseva sect head Baba Kashmira Singh, chief secretary SGPC Dr Roop Singh and many others.

Aujla thanked Civil Aviation Minister Hardeep Singh Puri for his efforts in ensuring better air connectivity for Amritsar. At the same time he added that the fare for Amritsar to Nanded Sahib which is another prominent pilgrimage for the community are too high. Aujla said he hoped that the charges would be reduced soon.
