Art exhibition to mark Valentine Day

A week-long exhibition for progression of art began here today. The exhibition is being organised by Indian Academy of Fine Arts (IAFA) at its hall here. The purpose is to motivate residents to celebrate art as an occasion and also give a different perspective to Valentine’s Day.
PS Grover, general secretary, IAFA, said, “Valentine’s Day is celebrated to express our love towards any person or thing. We are encouraging people to express their love for art by appreciating the work done by local artists. So, we have put up this exhibition to promote and engage citizens in art and its development in the city.”
As many as 24 art pieces, including paintings, sculptures, murals and digital art have been displayed in the exhibition. Residents can also purchase these art pieces and present these as gifts for Valentine’s Day.
Grover said preparation for the upcoming state art exhibition preparations were also in full swing. As many as 235 artists from across the country would be participating in the exhibition, he added.
He said, “We have already received 453 art works and are now processing these to select the best of the lot.”
