A group of 23 artists from the city, led by art critic Brajesh Jolly visited ‘Bathu ki ladi’, a historical place in Pong Dam near Talwara, Kangra. It was an earnest desire of the artists to visit such a historical place.

The temples of ‘Bathu ki ladi’ remain submerged in Pong Dam water for at least eight months in a year. These temples are visible only from March till June every year.

“It was a rare trip that inspired us to create wonderful art with a theme of the temple and its history,” informed Mala Chawla, a senior artist from the city.

The team included senior artists Kulwant Singh Gill, Dharminder Sharma, Narinder Singh, Gursharan Kaur, Teena Sharma, Shubha Mahajan, Vanshika, Inderpreet Kaur, Anju Jolly, Aakarshi Sawhney, Monica Sharma, among others.

The purpose of the tour was to inspire artists by giving them a outdoor experience and draw ideas from the historical place. The artists took photos of the location from different angles and made some sketches there, which would be used to create a series of art work,” said Jolly. The group will also hold an exhibition of the art work at KT Kala.
