There is no need of installing RO in households where the water supply department was supplying water. The water is fit for human consumption and tested by the concerned department. This was stated by Tajinderpal Singh Sandhu, Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) during the meeting of the Public Health Advisory Committee here yesterday. He urged the residents to use restrain while using RO system in their houses as it results in the wastage of huge quantity of water, which can be used for different purposes.
Speaking on the occasion, he pointed out that water supply being provided to the residents was pumped out from deep down the ground.
He said the water spilled out of the RO system as waste could be used in bathrooms and lawns. In case there was any need for installing the RO system, suitable arrangements should be made to preserve the water being pumped from the system as waste. He said barring several parts in Ajnala tehsil, the water supply in the holy city was pure and consumable and there was no need to install RO system.
Sandhu also launched a toll free number, 18001802468, for lodging complaints in case of any problem in the sewerage and water supply. He also urged the advisory committee members to aware farmers for using river water for irrigation purposes. — TNS
