Bhagat Puran Singh remembered

Programmes organised to mark the 25th death anniversary of Bhagat Puran Singh by the All India Pingalwara Charitable Society concluded on Saturday. The charitable society had conducted a number of events from August 3 August to 5 to observe the anniversary.
The concluding day began with an akhand path conducted by the Amritsar-based Dhan Baba Deep Singh Sewa Society followed by release of books namely, “Saint of the Society”, Brhamcharya aur Badati Abadi”, “Path of Spirituality”, “Wonderful Gift of God — Water”, “Jawan Ho Rahe — Dhiyaan te Putt”.
Rich tributes were paid to the founder of Pingalwara, Bhagat Puran Singh. Akal Takht Jathedar Giani Gurbachan remembered the founder of Pingalwara for his great deeds. Dr Kanchan Gaba, a visually impaired lawyer, was honoured for her contribution to society and her zeal to fight all disabilities, making her presence felt in society. She said, “The work of humanitarian Bhagat Puran Singh is an inspiration for all of us here and society.”
Among prominent present were Bhagwant Singh Dilwari, Bhagwan Singh Johal, Ravinderpal and others.
A number of events were held such as a special exhibition displaying the works of special children, Pingalwara inmates, followed by a blood-donation camp and book releases. Pingalwara is a home for the disabled, handicapped, crippled, mentally challenged, and aged suffering from incurable and multiple diseases.
